Fietsschilderijen
Voor Taliah Lempert, een 33-jarige New Yorkse kunstenares, is de fiets niet slechts een vervoermiddel, maar ook een kunstobject. Sinds drie jaar probeert ze daarom de schoonheid van de fiets vast te leggen op linnen, wat tot zeer fraaie fietsportretten heeft geleid. Zelf is ze een fanatiek fietser. Ze heeft al een flinke verzameling fietsen opgebouwd, van klassiek tot modern. Ze schildert vooral fietsen van vrienden en kennissen, maar is ook bereid fietsen in opdracht op het doek te zetten. Je fiets moet hiervoor wel naar New York worden verscheept, want van foto doet zet het niet: Taliah moet de fiets kennen om hem goed te kunnen portretteren. She tries to capture the beauty of a bicycle on linen and this results in very special bikeportraits. Taliah is a fanatic biker herself and she has a fair amount of bicycles, both classical and modern ones. She paints a lot of bicycles from friends and relatives, but is also willing to paint one as an assignment.
