This Labor Day weekend was my first time
at the Washington Square show, it was great!
My set up was different than usual
no t shirts and less knick nacks,
MORE PAINTINGS AND PRINTS!
This morning when Dave and I were finishing work on his roll gate
a little, probably about 6 year old, boy came by with his mom.
He stopped and said "nice painting"
we said thank you and good morning
then he continued
"I see painting everywhere and I always wonder where it came from"
lovely...
I'm intrigued by the golden rectangle
it's mesmerizing.
Starting a group of prints to explore it
Printing blocks of color in the Golden section
These will be a ground for printing and drawing
it's a longer than the 4 x 6 rectangle
used in a lot of my smaller prints
I'm interested in composition and color
This shape will work good
Jenn, Kristi and I went to the Met
Mostly to see the Sargent Show
Which knocked me off my feet.
Sargent gets what I struggle with.
This meeting between representation
and the mark making, abstract
for the love of paint kind of painting.
many of the paintings, barely hang together
large areas almost unpainted
then the drawing is so fresh and exact
that the few cues pull it all brilliantly together.
super exciting.
and the way he paints hands!
the whole show is humbling in a rare way.
I hope to see it again
It's great to see these cushions from my CCP fabric
back in stock at Kinoko!
These were from a fabric design project I did with CCP
a few years ago.
There's still some yardage available at my studio
great to make clothing, curtains and more!
