These aren’t just classic road racing bikes. Each one has a history.

All five were raced by people who loved the sport, and some were ridden to famous victories: Connie Carpenter’s bike at the 1984 Olympics, Andy Hampsten’s at the 1988 Giro d’Italia, and Greg LeMond’s at the 1990 Tour de France. The collection also includes Dave Perry’s Eisentraut, raced during his years as a young racer in Northern California, and Pat Kane’s Colnago, raced as an amateur and masters racer.

Each of these bicycles came into my studio to be painted from life. Together, the five paintings make a small collection of cycling history.
