Velox Ace Sketches '26
Ink, Watercolor on paper Various Sizes

Loose ink sketches of a Drysdale Velox Ace—one of Alvin Drysdale’s Manhattan-built racing bikes from the 1920s–50s.

This bike belonged to Alfred Zaffini, a racer from Needham, MA, built in 1937. Easy to picture it ripping laps at the Garden or out at the Coney Island velodrome.

Black ink and watercolor, brush pen and a floppy brush. Fast, open, letting the drawing happen.
