Shelby Flyer - Sketches
9x7"

Dave picked this up the first year of the Brooklyn Flea. It looked shipwrecked, like it had lived at the bottom of a lake, but after a good scrub those 1930s lines shine. I'm not entirely convinced but I'll go with that.

Playing with new ideas. Dave posed in classic cycling kit—a nod to Picasso’s Boy Leading a Horse, but with a bike. I drew with litho crayon on foil and processed it kitchen-litho style: maple syrup, Coke, and gum arabic. I like it, the figure feels strange in my work—maybe even weirder than the prints of him actually riding. I’m not sure where this is going, or if it’s going anywhere, but I like that I’m experimenting.
