My big project for today is to get the ball rolling for my fundraising half marathon.
It's the first time I've done this kind of thing.
I want to do something for my self, for my brother, a way to honor him and help with my own solace.
He was into fundraising challenges and he would have liked this one.
I’ll be running the 2019 NYC Half Marathon on Sunday, March 17 with Team in Training to raise money for LLS, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
My brother Pavel is my inspiration for this project. After he died in August 2017, from complications of esophageal cancer, his friends and I organized an annual 5k event in his memory.
The first edition of the LES Revel Run 5K, last October, was a big success. While working on it, I got the idea to participate in the NYC Half and fundraise as an homage to Pavel, a way to channel my grief into something productive.
I choose the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society because my father, who we lost this last August, had survived Lymphoma in 1992 and I have long been aware of the toll and cost of cancer.
The therapies funded by LLS have transcended blood cancers and now help those afflicted by many types of cancer. I want to help advance treatment and help find a cure.
Please consider a donation to help me reach my goal of raising $2,000 to fund LLS's mission.
