Eddie was a messenger long before I met him, always a friendly voice in the city’s cycling world. After he died about ten years ago, his bike came to live in my studio, where it has remained a favorite muse. This painting is part of my ongoing “unfinished finished” series, I stop before fully describing the image, leaving i some areas open like a glance.

Psyched to have Squid’s winter work bike in the studio — a humble Walmart Mongoose, found outside a pizza parlor in Queens, and ridden through seven or so New York winters. An honor to finally be painting one of his rides after all these years.
