The last in a set of prints of Squid’s winter work bike, a bike that’s been ridden hard through New York winters and carries its history in every part.

This print is a little different, and maybe my favorite — the biggest risk, the biggest reward. It makes me think of Picasso’s Cubist collages. It’s not a Cubist image, but something about the flatness set against areas of activity.

A kitchen lithograph, hand colored one by one with water paints and crayons. The image stays open and responsive. I like seeing and letting the materials show — the warmth of the paper, loose brushy color, and the physical touch of the hand.
