Ages ago, I heard that Ross Bicycles was originally in the Navy Yard. Then a couple weeks ago Dave heard it was on Kent. I googled it and saw it was a block away from us. We just saw on Gothamist that 1940 tax photos were online, Here's the original Ross Galvanizing that became Ross Bicycles!
News from the studio
Some time ago, I heard Ross Bicycles started in the Navy Yardwhich is cool, cause it's so close to my house. Then yesterday Dave read they started as Ross Galvanizing Works and actually in Williamsburg.I googled and found related legal papers that placed them on our block at 389 Kent!Coincidence? I think not!
Love the Archive of American art. When searching for one thingI stumble across something lovely like this.
I'm taking a printmaking class at the Art Student's League!Someone was talking about etching at Minerva's they had taken classes at the League and recomended it.I looked into it and it seemed great, perfect. The teachers look great, the facility looks greatI love that it is by the month & doesn't need to a semester commitment. I am excited to have something that will broaden my work, I love learning new printmaking techniques and have been feeling bogged down by sadness since the death of my wonderful father, August 3.I'm not quite myself and have been hoping that this class will be an impetusto get back there.
